Survivors of extreme, systematic, large-scale, and under-acknowledged forms of child abuse and trafficking feel both shaken and vindicated by the massive evidence of egregious acts spilling out in the Epstein files, including large-scale sex trafficking, production of child abuse materials, and possible sexual slavery, reproductive violence, torture, enforced disappearance, and homicide. Equally disturbing and vindicating to survivors is the evidence of the failures of the American justice system in the Epstein-Maxwell case to investigate victims’ reports and to adequately prosecute the perpetrators, including wealthy and politically-connected criminal associates of Epstein and Maxwell. This presentation will examine the parallels between the evidence in the Epstein-Maxwell case and the evidence of under-acknowledged forms of extreme child sexual abuse/trafficking on American soil, including ritualistic abuse, large-scale production of child abuse materials depicting sadistic abuse of young children, and familial trafficking of young children. The public outcry about the American Justice system’s failures in the Epstein-Maxwell case has developed into a national crisis that presents an opportunity for greater recognition, investigation, accountability, and community and justice responses to reports of all forms of large-scale organized criminal child abuse and trafficking, including forms that have been underacknowledged and/or relegated by some to the realm of conspiracy theory.
